Hydration is the key to health and performance for dog.  K9 BlueLite is an electrolyte that delivers multiple energy sources, key minerals and nutrients, intestinal stabilizing enzymes, and bacteria that help keep your dog healthy and well-hydrated.  K9 BlueLite delivers vitally important energy, while keeping canine athletes adequately hydrated to perform at their best.

The key to proper hydration for dogs is that in order to enhance absorption and prevent stomach upset, the fluids need to be “balanced” to be best-utilized by the body.  While exercising, dogs need added energy and the brain needs an ample supply of carbohydrates to stay sharp in order to continue to perform at the highest level.  K9 BlueLite contains a blend of carbohydrates that provides both quick and sustained energy sources for dogs of any age and activity level.

INTRODUCTION
K9 BlueLite has been tested and evaluated in veterinary clinics, breeding kennels, sled dogs, greyhounds, lactating bitches and in nursing puppies. In these field trials K9 BlueLite helped restore and maintain normal body fluid balance in puppies that were afflicted with bacterial diarrhea and in mature dogs suffering from viral diarrhea. In an extensive trial in a breeding kennel, K9 BlueLite helped maintain water intake in whelping-lactating bitches and increased water intake in dehydrated nursing puppies by 50 percent. K9 BlueLite’s quick rehydration action is readily visible when administered in the water or on the dog food in high performance animals such as sled dogs, greyhounds, and heavily worked dogs.

Most dehydrated dogs like the taste of K9 BlueLite in the drinking water and in field trials evaluating water intake, K9 BlueLite actually stimulated water intake. In some house pets or dogs with selective taste and appetite, K9 BlueLite should be added to the dog food, as any changes in water taste may delay water intake for a short duration.

REHYDRATION-DIGESTIVE ACTION
K9 BlueLite contains a broad spectrum of buffered electrolytes that minimize potential irritating action on inflamed intestinal tracts. These buffered electrolytes make K9 BlueLite ideal for oral administration in dogs with gastritis and diarrhea. K9 BlueLite can be added to the drinking water at the recommended rate or used as an oral lavage in mature dogs or puppies suffering from dehydration.

K9 BlueLite provides a tasty digestive acidifying action in combination with multiple sources of energy similar to oral rehydration formulas consumed by human marathon runners. This pleasant acidifying action and the readily absorbed energy ingredients help provide optimum digestive pH maximizing energy utilization and electrolyte absorption. This energizing-acidification action provides quick rehydration action in performance animals such as racing dogs and young puppies where prolonged dehydration and energy deficits may be a threat to normal health.

DIRECTION FOR USE
DRINKING WATER ADMINISTRATION

Mix 1 heaping teaspoon to each 1 to 2 pints of drinking water depending upon severity of dehydration. Keep K9 BlueLite in all of the drinking water consumed by the dog for 5 to 7 days or as long as signs of dehydration persist. Can be fed continuously as a vitamin-energy supplement in debilitated dogs.

DOG FOOD APPLICATIONS
Mix K9 BlueLite with the dog food or dissolve 1 heaping teaspoon of K9 BlueLite in about one-fourth cup of water and pour over the dog food. Feed daily 1 heaping teaspoon per each 10-15 pounds of body weight depending on the condition of the dog.

OTHER INDICATIONS AND APPLICATIONS
Heat stress, travel, extensive work or exercise, and metabolic disturbances are common contributing factors to dehydration. Because dogs vary greatly in their size, age, and activity, K9 BlueLite has been used under a wide variety of circumstances since its introduction. Some applications where K9 BlueLite has proven to be of benefit are as follows:

ORAL LAVAGE OR DRENCH MIXTURE PROCEDURE
Many veterinarians have found K9 BlueLite to be the first fluid that dogs will keep or hold down following digestive upsets when K9 BlueLite is administered as an oral drench or lavage. The K9 BlueLite lavage solution is prepared by mixing 1 heaping teaspoon of K9 BlueLite with 20 to 30 milliliters of cool water. Most dogs will readily accept this electrolyte suspension when administered through a plastic tube or syringe via the lipfold of the mouth.

ICE CUBE ADMINISTRATION
Many dogs with gastritis are not capable of holding down fluids when administered in large amounts over a short period of time. In clinical observations where K9 BlueLite was offered in ice cube form, a high percentage of dogs with digestive upsets consumed more fluids and electrolytes by licking cubes or slowly drinking the fluids from the melting ice cubes. To prepare ice cubes with K9 BlueLite, mix one part K9 BlueLite with three parts of water with sufficient water to fill the ice cube tray. Offer 4-12 cubes at a time depending upon the size of the dog.

LACTATING BITCHES AND NURSING PUPS
K9 BlueLite helps stimulate water intake and reduces dehydration in both the lactating bitch and the nursing puppy. The benefits of the buffered electrolytes, multiple energy and tasty acidification are very evident and visible in most puppies suffering from diarrhea.

Product

Q: Are hydration products only needed when the weather is hot? When should I give my dog hydration products?
A: Hydration products are very good for dogs when the weather is hot, but it’s not the only time that they can benefit from consuming them. Interestingly, dogs are very susceptible to dehydration in the winter months as well. Due to the nature of that time of year, a lot of moisture is lost through the normal breathing process as the respiratory tract moistens the air, combined with the fact that fresh water is not as readily available. Hydration products should be given to a dog any time that the dog has been working hard or exercising, regardless of the weather conditions. Dogs are much like humans in this way – when it’s hot or when you’ve been working hard, you get thirsty. The K9 BlueLite and K9 Restart family of products provides the dog with the hydration it needs, but also gives the added benefits of electrolytes that allow for quick recovery and continued high level of performance. It is highly palatable and encourages dogs to consume the liquid and nutrients that they need.

Q: What are the differences between all TechMix canine hydration products?
A: All of the products in the K9 BlueLite and K9 Restart lines provide dogs with a source of quick energy, enzymes to help stabilize a dog’s digestive system, and balanced electrolytes to ensure absorption which promotes hydration. Some of the products are more highly concentrated than others – as a rule, anything in a powdered form will contain more highly concentrated ingredients. The primary difference is in the method of delivery, and will probably be the biggest factor in the products you choose. For example, if you are giving K9 BlueLite to twenty dogs, we’d recommend buying the 1.75 lb. jar. If you are on the road and want to have K9 BlueLite in a form that is conducive to travel, we’d recommend the K9 BlueLite Single Dose packs that can be poured into a bottle of water for convenient mixing.
