Equine Hoof Protect
FEATURES & BENEFITS
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Hoof issues can cause problems for a horse varying from slight discomfort to pain that can limit the horse's ability to exercise or stand. Equine Hoof Protect was specifically designed to address hoof issues and to help maintain already healthy hooves. Equine Hoof Protect includes ingredients needed to help develop a good, pliable hoof wall such as amino acids, biotin, vitamins, and yucca. Help keep your horse's hooves strong and healthy with daily use of Equine Hoof Protect.
Equine Hoof Protect contains protein such as glutamate and methionine (AA), sulfur, and chelated micro minerals - all of which are important for hoof health and help to build the hoof wall. Equine Hoof Protect also includes biotin and Vitamin C which are essential to help rebuild a hoof wall after damage has occurred. A key to preventing hoof health issues from occurring in the first place is to change the environment in which the horse stands. We've included Yucca, which helps the horse to utilize nitrogen, in turn reducing the amount of ammonia on the ground. By reducing the ammonia, horse owners can help prevent hoof deterioration from occurring.

Equine hoof and foot care and health are an important issue for many horse owners. Hoof care concerns may range from foot rot, heel and sole infections with open sore lesions to hoof cracks. Horses with obvious open sores, infections and fever should be treated as directed by a veterinarian. Once the initial treatment is initiated the individual horse and herd should be placed on a supplemental nutritional program to help prevent and minimize the problem in the future. TechMix has researched and field tested a specially formulated supplement—Equine Hoof Protect that provides a unique combination of special ingredients that are essential for normal hoof, hair and skin development and maintenance.
Biotin is needed for proper hoof development. Studies show that supplemental biotin improves hoof hardness and hoof integrity by directly affecting hoof horn formation. Biotin is also required for normal metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Zinc is essential in maintaining cell wall integrity and deficiencies may result in skin lesions and poor wound healing. The organic zinc proteinate complex in Equine Hoof Protect has been shown to be an effective tool in reducing the incidence of hoof, skin and hair problems under a wide variety of conditions. These responses or mechanisms of action are not totally understood but have been attributed to the highly bio-available form of zinc from this organic source in maintaining cell wall integrity. Copper is required for proper bone and cartilage formation and improves pigmentation and structure of both hair and hoof.
Equine Hoof Protect also contains amino acids important as the main component of collagen. Collagen is the main connective tissue found in hoof, bone, cartilage and tendons. Lysine is an essential amino acid needed for the formation of hydroxyl-lysine an important component of collagen. Methionine is a sulfur-containing essential amino acid also important for hoof protein development. Research has shown that sulfur amino acids are key components in the hoof wall. Glycine and proline are aminoacids also found as important components of collagen. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an anti-oxidant important for immune system function and also required for the proper formation of hydroxyl-proline (hydroxylation of proline) and hydroxyl-lysine, two key amino acids in collagen protein. Supplementing horses with Vitamin C is most beneficial during periods of stress, such as after transporting, performance and older horses. Vitamin C is easily oxidized due to light, heat and moisture. To be sure that Vitamin C is of benefit to the horse, Equine Hoof Protect uses a special fat-coated vitamin C source that is stable through the heat and moisture conditions of pelleting and product storage. Choline is a constituent of phospholipids needed for normal maturation of the cartilage matrix of bone. Choline aids in reducing fat accumulation in the liver and is an essential component of cell membranes and is a methyl donor. Inositol helps to properly utilize Choline and promotes healthy hair, hoof and bone.
Equine Hoof Protect also provides enzymes to assist horses to better utilize the complex carbohydrates in oats and corn.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Equine Hoof Protect is in a palatable mini-pellet form that is convenient to top-dress to horses of all ages and the recommended feeding rate is based on body weight. Does it make a difference which form of the mineral is used in my supplements?
There are two mineral forms you will hear most about in any supplement, Chelated or Non-Chelated.
- Chelated minerals (organic minerals), are more bio-available to your animal. Use, availability and uptake are greater than non-chelated minerals providing you better use for your money, and your horse better health.
- Non-Chelated minerals (inorganic forms), will pass through the digestive tract with only a portion being utilized by the animal.
TechMix, LLC uses a combination of these minerals so your horse receives the beneficial minerals for proper hoof growth in chelated form while maintaining an economic advantage.
What makes Equine Hoof Protect unique?
Equine Hoof Protect contains the additional benefits of Yucca, a superior hoof supplement helps to reduce ammonia levels on hoof wall deterioration, inflammation and barn air quality issues.
